The Spanish Mosque that is located in Begumpet is also known as Masjid Iqbal Ud Daula and Jam e Masjid Aiwan-E-Begumpet.
The Fifth Paigah Amir, H. E Nawab Mohammed Fazaluddin, Iqbal Ud Daula, and Viqar-Ul-Umra started the construction of this mosque in 1900. The mosque draws its inspiration from the cathedral of Cordoba. The infrastructure and interiors bring close similarities to the Jama Masjid in Gulbarga, Karnataka.
The Mosque is also known as the mosque of the Moors, thanks to its Hispanic style. This mosque is unlike any other in the city as it has a distinctive infra and designing.
The Religious enclosure is constructed with stone masonry in lime mortar. The domes and minarets are built with bricks.
It is still unclear as to which inspired the Paigah Nawab to design this mega-structure, but it is very much evident that it was created in the Spanish style.
Mr. Faiz Khan is the treasurer of this mosque, and he also serves as the head of the community.
The Mosque is so bugged that it can accommodate 3000 worshipers at once. It stands as the landmark of the Secunderabad Muslim community.
