Mecca Masjid is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hyderabad. Also known as Makka Masjid, it took a total of 8000 masons to build this piece of art. It is located roughly 100 meters away from Charminar. Its construction went on for 77 long years.
The mosque has a 75-foot-tall hall which stands as the centre of attraction thanks to its architectural brilliance. It accommodates around 10,000 worshippers at a go.
A total of 15 pillars form the fundamental structure of the mosque. All the pillars are carved with single stone granite, which amplifies their look and presence to a whole new level.
Various verses from the Quran are carved on the walls and the pillars of the construction, giving it a holistic vibe.
The construction began back in 1614 by Sultan Mohammad Quili Qutub Shah. The relics and artefacts that have been carved on the construction stand as a symbolic representation of the legacy and pride of the Nizam kingdom.
The masjid is open to tourists from 4 AM in the morning to 9:30 PM. No entry fee is charged.
